About:

Conn McCarrick is a lens-based artist based in Dublin, Ireland. Currently, Conn is pursuing an MFA in Photography at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. He graduated from the BA in Photographic Media at Griffith College Dublin with first class honours in 2024 and from the National College of Art and Design with distinction in 2022.

Conn’s work focuses on the experience of queer young people in Ireland and draws from his background in campaigning for social and political rights. He is a former Chairperson of the National Youth Parliament and recently served as the Irish Youth Delegate to the United Nations. He approaches photography as a social practice — collaboration, care and sustained engagement with communities are central to his artistic practice.

To date, Conn has exhibited his work in Ireland, the UK and the USA. In 2024, he was awarded the Research And Development Artist Residency (RADAR) from PhotoIreland and the Early Career Artist Award from Photo Museum Ireland.

His work is supported by the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Emerging Artist Bursary (2025) and the Arts Council Agility Award (2025). His work is held in public and private collections.
